Worksop Photographic Society “Foto – Image” Exhibition
Worksop Photographic Society are staging an exhibition of photographs entitled “Foto – Image” at the Thoresby Gallery from the 5th to 27th of July. The gallery is part of the Thorseby estate, situated near Budby, a few miles north of Ollerton, Nottinghamshire. Rather uniquely, this is the first time the gallery has staged an exhibition of photographs, normally being reserved for the display of paintings.
The exhibition covers a wide range photographic styles from the society members, including yours truly, where 14 of my landscapes photographs will be on show too. You can see a selection of some of the images in the slideshow below. Not only will visitors have a great collection of 136 photographs to view but also the opportunity to purchase and order prints at great prices.
Thoresby Hall is a grade I listed 19th-century country house and one of four neighbouring estates within the Dukeries of north Nottinghamshire (all once occupied by dukes ). The hall is now a hotel and spa belonging to the Warner Leisure group, but the adjacent out building and courtyard house not only Thorseby Gallery, but a Military Museum, craft shops and garden centre and a café.
The Courtyard is also home to the “Permanent Collection”, which house the life’s work of Marie-Louise Roosevelt Pierrepont (1889–1984) who once lived at the Hall.
Details of how to get to Thorseby can be found here, and information on the WDPS Exhibition information here. The exhibition opens at 11am on Saturday 5th July.
